High Position leave themselves wide open!

High Position leave themselves wide open!

It’s nearly time for Internet World 2010, I have my seminar ready and so at Just search we though we would carry out a “twinterview” i.e. a serious of questions asked and answered via twitter.

This has been quiet successful with a number of tweets and re-tweets by people and potential visitors to Internet World 2010.

We had been carrying this out for about half an hour when someone from my SEO department stumbled on to the fact that “High Position” had a social portal page about Internet World and yet all that it contained was repeated tweets from Just Search.

Thats advertising you can’t buy :)

You can see in the screen shot below the offending page.

I think its key for any company that creates a Social portal to remember that your competitors can get involved and your visitors can see their thoughts. This happened unintentionally today (or did it?).

So if you going to create a social portal on your website think about:

  • What you can control?
  • Display specific hash tags
  • Monitor what is being displayed on your site
  • React quickly to what is displayed – Our tweets have flooded their page for the last 4 hours)

For anyone going to Internet world see you there!
